Hi folks, anyone else get terrible itching and bad sweats? I am currently on prednisolone, hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate. Also take amitrypceline , alendronic acid and dyhidrocodeine. Itching is driving me nuts especially during night and prevents me from sleeping. Any ideas, suggestions will be most welcome!

Thank you

Moira

Have you had your liver checked recently ? That can sometimes cause body itching.
I too get sweats at night and also find myself very itchy, particularly on my feet and face. Don't know what it is.
Obviously you need to rule out simple things like flea bites or scabies etc.

The only thing I take which are the same as your drugs is the MTX.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Thank you . I am due to get my bloods done this week so I will mention to GP. Strange thing is there is no rash etc and I have been getting this periodically over past 6 months or so but now getting it every other day! Very frustrating.

Hi. Itching and sweats could be a drug side effect so I think you should get some advice about these, especially if you are on any new drugs. However I got both sweating and itching during my first severe flare up which was before my drug treatment even started so your symptoms could also be part of a flare up. Good luck with getting these symptoms sorted out, and please give us an update. Naomi, X

Hi all, paracetamol can cause severe itching, only know because my mum used to have a severe itching allergy to it, could be why you itch with co codomol Dorothy, and of course it can also causes sweating. I get the sweating but thankfully no itching.
Guess it could be an allergy to any of the drugs you are taking Moira. Hope you get it sorted soon, I had severe itching during both pregnancies, liver colestasis... excuse spelling.... so I presume it could be liver related too. Seek medical advice is best as someone else suggested, it does drive you potty though, I wore all my nails down and scratched skin off my feet, nights were worse. Zena x
